Transfer and Careers

Working with Little Ones is a Big Job

This job requires you to meet the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of a group of children in a childcare center, preschool, or home environment. Your coursework at EAC, plus work experience, prepares you for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or national certification.

Career prospects are excellent, with available jobs growing 19% by 2018.

 

Salaries:

Salaries vary widely but the average for early childhood teachers is $25,540 with salaries reaching up to $43,570.

Cutting Edge Programs

Early Childhood Education (Certificate)
The one-year Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate program is designed for early childhood teacher training. After you complete the certificate, you may apply for the National Child Development Associate Certificate through a national CDA credentialing agency.

Early Childhood Education (AAS)
This two-year associate of applied science degree builds on the ECE Certificate of Proficiency and gives you additional skills to accompany certification in the field.

Early Childhood Education (AAS-BAS Track)
If you're planning to continue your education and receive a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from a university, this is the program for you. Students who complete the AAS-BAS degree, transfer to a university and complete their BAS Degree. The BAS in early childhood program does not lead to teacher certification. This degree is helpful for center directors, supervisors, and lead teachers.

Early Childhood Education (AA)
If you plan to transfer to a university to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree, then this is the program for you. This degree can lead to teacher certification and builds on the requirements for the National Credential or CDA and prepares you to meet the Arizona Department of Education early childhood education content requirements. This program includes the required courses to fulfill the AGEC-A.
