The degree prepares students for careers and certification in public and private education as music teachers in the State of Arizona and for advanced schooling in the pursuit of professional and graduate degrees. This program aligns with the Colleges mission to prepare students to thrive in the complex and ever-changing world of arts education. To successfully pursue collegiate study and a career in music education, you must be able to play at least one instrument well; have some experience and/or training in voice; and possess knowledge of music theory. You must also possess or obtain adequate piano skills. Additionally, students must complete all training and requirements for certification as a public music educator in the State of Arizona. Some courses in the program will require that students pass a background check and maintain an active fingerprint clearance card with the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
